It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Major Marek J. Swiderski, age 72, on November 16, 2021 in El Paso, TX. Marek was born in Warsaw, Poland and immigrated to Hamtramck, MI at the age of 14. Marek was an active scholar with degrees from Wayne State University, Georgetown University, and University of Texas at El Paso. Marek served two tours in Vietnam and had a successful career in the Army, his last assignment being in Pentagon working for General Army Chief of Staff. He lived and traveled all over the USA and world before settling in El Paso. He transitioned to a second career as a Principal Tax Accountant at the El Paso Electric Company before retiring. He was a dedicated Husband and Father, a true friend, and an active and cherished member of the El Paso Democratic Party as well as the Polish communities where he lived all around the world.
Marek is survived by his wife Elena, his children Regina, Marek, Jakob and Otilia, his niece Lauren, along with his granddaughter Kirana. Marek is predeceased by his beloved Mother Maria, Father Stanislaw and Brother Peter. Marek is genuinely missed by family and friends as he joins his beloved Mother, Father, and Brother.
A Visitation Service will be held at Martin Funeral Home East located at 1460 George Dieter El Paso, TX on Saturday December 11, 2021 and Sunday December 12, 2021 from 10:00AM to 2:00PM both days. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday December 13, 2021 at St. Raphael's Church located 2301 Zanzibar El Paso, TX at 9:30AM. The Church Mass will be followed by a Military Funeral at Ft. Bliss Cemetery located at 5200 Fred Wilson Ave, El Paso, TX 79906 at 11:00AM. In lieu of flowers the family is asking to donate to http://give.asymca.org to help military families in need.
