Margarett E Pence, 90, passed away peacefully and with family at home in Clint, Texas on Wednesday, April 18, 2018. She is survived by her three daughters, Donna, Connie and Robin, seven grandchildren, Jake, Summer, “Little” Robin, Mitch, Gigi, Jessi, Meagan, and ten great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband Robert E Pence as well as two grandsons, Dalton Adams and Brian Higginbotham, parents Walter Chesterfield and Stella Gertrude Smith and brothers Walter Chesterfield Jr, William Worley, Charles Elmer and Darrell Gilder Smith.
A coal miner’s daughter born October 4, 1927 in Plasterco in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Southwest Virginia, she and Bob with their three girls moved to El Paso in 1956 when he was stationed at Ft. Bliss. She was a skilled musician from an early age singing and playing piano with her Father and brothers in church. After moving to El Paso she became an award winning artist and art teacher. As a military family, Margarett and Bob, lived and traveled all over the world affording her the opportunity to study art in Europe, Japan and Mexico as well as music missionary work.
A celebration of her life with music will be held Saturday, 2 pm. May 19th at Clint Baptist Church, 200 Main St in Clint, Texas. All friends are encouraged to come. It will be fun.
