

MARGARITA ELENA "NENA" READE Our Beautiful, Beloved Mama/Gramma/Great Gramma, Margarita Elena "Nena" Reade (nee Echavarria) was born in El Paso, Texas on Monday May 27,1929 to Maria "Mimi" Alberta Ribail & Jesus Echavarria & Big Brother Luis Echavarria. On Tuesday July 29,2025 at 6:27 am in her home in El Paso, under hospice care, as we held her hands, Prayed, hugged, loved & kissed Nena, GOD's Holy Angels came to take our 96-year-old Precious MARGARITA to HEAVEN. Her daughter Helen and granddaughter Jamie and all her 4 pet dogs & 5 cats were near her as she passed away peacefully in her sleep. Nena went to Alamo School & Bowie High School & while her brother Luis was serving in the US Army overseas in WW2, Nena dropped out of school at age 16 to get a job & to take care of her Beloved Mama "Mimi" who had cancer & passed when Nena was 19. Nena met her tall, handsome future Husband, Jesse George Reade, a U.S. Navy WW2 Veteran through his beautiful kid sister, Josephine "Baby" Reade. Jesse married Nena & had 2 Daughters: Helen & Josie. Jesse & Nena had 4 Grandchildren: April, Jesse Wayne, Jamie & Bianca. 2 Great Grandchildren: Elijah & Scarlett. Nena was Gifted & Talented: A Wonderful Homemaker, Great Cook, Faithful Wife, Loving Mama & Gramma. Her fashion flair was furthered by her great sewing & embroidery Skills: Sewed us wonderful clothes & made many items like Winnie-the-Pooh & Raggedy Ann & Andy Dolls. Nena loved drawing, painting, making ceramics & decorating cakes. Nena loved singing & dancing even while doing housework. Nena had a Warm personality & great sense of humor. She was a real people person who relished conversing with everyone: With kids, babies, animals, her loved Ones---even strangers!! Nena ALWAYS loved ALL animals, especially dogs & cats which she enjoyed talking to, playing with and sleeping with. She enjoyed Jumble, Jigsaw Puzzles & playing Chinese Checkers & Checkers. Nena LOVED GOD & Holy Bible Study & Nena taught us and her Grandkids about GOD & JESUS. She taught us and her Grandkids the Colors, the ABC's, to Count, Color & Draw. She read us Stories, Sang to us, taught us Songs & to Dance. took us to many fun places: Visiting Loved ones, the park, Shopping, the Zoo, the Library, to Movies...and she TOOK us to CHURCH and taught us about GOD & JESUS CHRIST. Mama taught us to be KIND, Thoughtful, Considerate & Polite. Nena had a BIG Generous Giving Heart. She was a HARD-WORKING, AMAZING, AWESOME, AFFECTIONATE, SUPPORTIVE, LOVING MAMA & GRAMMA. OUR Loving Mama, along with Daddy, HAPPILY took care of their Grandbabies from infancy to kindergarten & beyond. We knew that their BELOVED Grandkids were ALWAYS SAFE & LOVED in their GRANDPARENTS' Care. Special Thanks to Everyone who was THERE for Nena and us: Her Loving Dear Nephews & Nieces: Dean "Dino", Joyce, Janet, Jesse A., Darlina, Joe, Al "Bobby", Frank "Chuckie", Jeanne, Lourdes, DeeDee, Liz, Chevon, Rose Mary, Rob N., and MANY MORE. Our Close Caring Friends: Tony Welch, Josh Byland, Tommie & Mark Bruner, Gloria Lee & Reuben Rebollo, Gloria Williams Mendez, Thelma Villanueva, Gloria Gutierrez and MANY OTHERS. A BIG SPECIAL THANKS to my Precious Beautiful Daughter Jamie for ALL you did taking charge and for doing ALL you possibly could for your BEAUTIFUL Gramma Nena to make her Happy, for taking loving care of her for years with your LOVE & HARD WORK. Gramma LOVED you very MUCH. Special Thanks to Our Dear Mr. Barry Martin, who Sang at Our Precious Jesse Wayne's Funeral. Barry will be Honoring Our Nena with his Beautiful Singing and guitar Playing, Special Thanks to Mr. Sammy Estorga, & Staff of REMARKABLE HOSPICE of EL PASO for their EXCELLENT Care of Our PRECIOUS NENA. Another Thanks goes to HILLCREST FUNERAL HOME, & Funeral Director, Mr. Edward Lujan, & Staff for their Polite, Professional way they took care of EVERYTHING for Mama's Funeral. Margarita was Preceded in Passing by her Awesome French Grandfather, John Joseph Ribail of Paris, France; by her Precious Mother Maria "Mimi" Alberta Ribail & Brother Luis L. Echavarria; her Loving Husband, Jesse George Reade; by her Beloved Grandson, Jesse Wayne Reade; Son-in-Law, James M. Curl; and her many Reade brothers and sisters-in-law. Our BELOVED Margarita is survived by her 1st Daughter, Helen Marie Reade-Curl; Granddaughter Jamie Marie Reade Curl; by her Great Grandson, Elijah Reade Toulmin of Dallas, Texas. Margarita is also survived by her 2nd Daughter, Josie Ann Reade-Viel (Holger); Granddaughters April Dawn Babbit Waugh (Geoffrey); Bianca Chanel Joy Viel; Great Granddaughter Scarlett Victoria Waugh. MARGARITA is also survived by MANY LOVING Nephews & Nieces. PALLBEARERS: Jesse Albert Reade, Nathan Reade, Kreg Martinez, Josh Byland and Timmy Byland... HONORARY PALLBEARERS: Dean "Dino" Reade, Frank "Chuckie" Reade, Al "Bobby" Huerta, Joe Huerta, Tony Welch, Ray Martinez, Holger Viel. Special Thanks also goes to: Father Roberto Alvarado for Officiating the Mass at Our Lady of the Light Catholic Church and Deacon Bobby Saucedo for Officiating the Rosary & the Fort Bliss Graveside Services. We Will Dearly MISS You Our Beloved, Beautiful Margarita Until the Day We Pass Away and We Will LOVE You FOREVER!!!
A visitation for Margarita will be held Wednesday, August 13, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Hillcrest Funeral Home, 1060 North Carolina Dr., El Paso, Texas 79915. A rosary will occur Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at 7:00 PM, 1060 North Carolina Dr., El Paso, Texas 79915. A funeral mass will occur Thursday, August 14, 2025 at 9:30 AM at Our Lady of The Light Catholic Church, 4700 Delta Dr., El Paso, TX 79905. A graveside service will occur Thursday, August 14, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Ave, El Paso, TX 79906.
