Marguerite Gassaway 87, passed away October 30, 2015 in the loving home, of Sean and Dwanna Douglas in Fort Worth, Texas, surrounded by family. She was born September 2, 1928 to Lee and Belle Sylvester in Shelby County, Tennessee. She is reunited with the love of her life, John Franklin Gassaway, whom she was married to for over 60 years until his passing.
Marguerite was a loving mother, grandmother and friend. Everyone who knew her was touched by her generosity, beauty and spirit. You never left her house without being fed. She was a great cook, always glamourous and told you how the “cow ate the cabbage”. We will miss her great meals, her tidbits of wisdom and her great stories. She was truly a class act and will be missed by all who knew her. We hope she is now doing the jitterbug, singing and visiting with family and friends.
She is survived by her 3 children Danny Ray Gassaway (wife Louann; children Kimberly Diane, Christopher Matthew, Nicholas John, Katie Marie) Dennis Leroy Gassaway (wife Ilsa; child Janine Ivette) and Dwanna Douglas (husband Sean). She is also survived by 3 great grandchildren, whom she loved sharing pictures of, Matthew Joseph, Emma Rose and Jack Lewis.
Visitation will be held Sunday, November 8, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Kaster-Maxon & Futrell Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held Monday, November 9, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Funeraria del Angel Kaster-Maxon & Futrell.
