She was born December 13, 1935, in Albia, Coahuila, Mexico, to Juan and Margarita Macias and lived in Rancho Nuevo, El Paso, Anthony, Chaparral, and most recently Canutillo.
She was a woman of strong faith that often offered prayers for those she loved, cited bible verses by heart, and knew the stories of all the Saints in her Catholic religion.
Amelia loved mariachi music and matachines, so much so she considered becoming a matachin dancer, and became emotional when hearing live mariachi music.
She loved her family, traveling, gardening, and enjoying the finer things in life. While she never received a formal education, she assured her children and grandchildren did and dedicated her time to caring for them and her home.
Amelia was preceded in death by her daughter Irma Parker, grandson Daniel Jackson, husband Prescott Kellam Colquitt Sr. and siblings Rosa Saucedo, Tacho Macias, Juanita Macias, Rosario Macias and parents Juan and Margarita Macias.
She is survived by her son Juan Colquitt (Lori), daughter Sylvia Colquitt-Verlander (Mike), grandchildren Matthew and Jenna kay Colquitt, Kalvin Prescott Turner, Sylvia Rachel Neal, Amelia Patricia Hernandez, Brandon and Zakariah Ruiz; and siblings Julia Macias, Elida Macias, Josie Sanchez, and Ruth Villareal. Amelia also was blessed wit several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Martin Funeral Home West, 128 N Resler Dr, El Paso, Texas 79912, on July 9, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, with a Prayer Service at Martin Funeral Home West, 128 North Resler Drive, El Paso, TX 79912, US, on July 9, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
Mass will be held at St Anthony Catholic Church, 324 Lincoln St, Anthony, New Mexico 88021, on July 10, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by a Committal Service at Desert View Cemetery, 450 E Lisa Dr, Chaparral, NM 88081, US, on July 10, 2026, from 11:45 am to 12:15 pm.
