It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, a loving daughter, devoted wife, and grandmother, Maria Antonietta Chavez. She passed away in her sleep on September 12th, 2023 at the age of 89.
Toni was born on September 5th, 1934 in El Paso, Texas. She graduated from Austin High School class of 1952, and received her Nursing Degree from Hotel Dieu School of Nursing.
Toni always cared endlessly and selflessly for others. She was very dedicated to her family, and she cherished every second spent with family and friends. Just as much love and care that she poured into her family, the same compassion was reflected in her nursing career. A passion of hers was cooking in the kitchen preparing family favorites for special occasions. Everyone anxiously anticipated gathering around the dinner table to share a loving meal prepared by her loving hands.
Those grateful in sharing her life are 2 siblings Reuben Castillo and Martha Garcia; 2 daughters, Joliette Renee Hernandez (Michael), Soraya Reichert (Tim); son, Roldan Mauricio Chavez (Annette). Other survivors include 8 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Toni is preceded in death by her parents Manuel and Maria Sofia Castillo, her brother Renee Castillo, her daughter Tais Aida Chavez, and her husband Fred T. Chavez.
In lieu of flowers please donate to the St. Jude Catholic Church in her honor. Toni felt very attached to this small church and frequently visited when needing guidance from our Lord. She donated to them monthly.
