Maria Luisa Grijalva "Licha" (Tanabonga)

She was born in La Union, New Mexico, to Tomas and Rebeca (Guajardo) Grijalva. A woman ahead of her time, she lived life her way despite the challenges she faced.

She is survived by her daughter, Diana Montemayor Piñon (Raul Piñon); her granddaughters, Edna L. Leon and Cynthia A. Leon; her grandsons, Manuel Leon Jr., Brandon R. Piñon, and Jared F. Piñon; five great-grandchildren; and her younger brothers, Rafael Grijalva and Luis Grijalva. Maria was predeceased by her daughter, Belinda Ann Leon (Manuel Leon), and her brothers, Tomas Grijalva Jr., Manuel Grijalva, Carlos Grijalva, and Jesus Jose Grijalva.

A visitation for Maria will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Hillcrest Funeral Home, 1060 North Carolina Drive, El Paso, TX 79915. A rosary will take place on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at 6:00 PM at the same location. A funeral mass will occur on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at 12:00 PM at Cristo Rey Catholic Church, 8011 Williamette Ave, El Paso, TX 79907. A graveside service will follow on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at 1:30 PM at Evergreen Cemetery, 4301 Alameda Ave, El Paso, TX 79905.
