Born on January 1, 1930 in Mexico, to Jose Angel Chavez and Ladislada Orozco, she lived her life in El Paso, devoted to her family and her work as a seamstress for 30+ years. She is survived by her children, Oscar Miramontes Sr., Mireya Palladino, Sylvia Morales, Rodolfo Miramontes Jr. and Graciela Hernandez. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and many extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rodolfo Miramontes. Maria was well known for her wisdom, witty zingers, old-school proverbs, singing her favorite songs from beginning to end and famous for her homemade jamoncillo. She was tough as nails and soft as silk for the people she loved.
Visitation will be held at Hillcrest Funeral Home, 1060 North Carolina Drive, El Paso, TX 79915, US, on September 8, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm, with a Rosary Service at the same location on September 8, 2026, at 7:00 pm.
A Funeral Mass will take place at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 2709 Alabama St, El Paso, TX 79930, US, on September 9, 2026, at 11:00 am, followed by a Graveside Service at Restlawn Memorial Cemetery, 8700 Dyer St, El Paso, TX 79904, US, on September 9, 2026, at 12:30 pm.
