

Marian L. Dobberthein (Chapman) passed away peacefully at her home with her daughter and family at her side on Friday, October 22, 2021 at the age of 89. She was born, the oldest of 4 children and the only daughter of Claten and Thelma Chapman, on February 2, 1932 in Encino, New Mexico. They later moved to Jenks, Oklahoma where she was raised and graduated from Jenks High School. She graduated from college as a Registered Nurse and spent most of her life living in El Paso, Texas where she met her husband (Tom) Thomas J Dobberthein, Sr. They were married on April 22, 1962. She was an RN and Head Nurse of the Peritoneal Dialysis unit at Hotel Dieu Hospital for most of her nursing career. She was a substitute teacher and school nurse at Parkland Elementary School while her children attended elementary school. After retiring, she enjoyed traveling the United States and Canada with Tom in their RV for many years visiting family and friends. She enjoyed gardening, visiting neighbors, cooking, shopping, and many other hobbies. She loved growing roses and picking pecans from her backyard pecan tree. She loved celebrating Christmas, loved her grandkids, loved making pecan pies and many other sweets to give to family, friends, and neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her younger brothers William (WC), Larry and Ronny. She is survived by her children, Rhonda Kay Cook, Oliver Claten ‘Buddy’ Dobberthein (Angie) and Thomas J Dobberthein, Jr. She is also survived by her many grandchildren and “great grandchildren”: Jessi Renee Bross (Gabe), “Keeleigh Renee and Silas Ian”, Amanda Nichole Dobberthein “Kamrynn Alyse Thornton, Erilynn Elizabeth Rose and Noveah Faith (deceased)”, ‘TJ’ Thomas J Dobberthein III “Riley Richard, Brinlee Marie and Jaxson Thomas James”, Candace Alyse Dobberthein, Shawna Brooke Dobberthein “Sunni August and Ramsie Winter Rose”, Shanna Beth Dobberthein “Spencer Thomas, Hazel Maye and Rubee Kaye”, Ty Claten Dobberthein (Tora) “Jaden Tomi Asenis and Tylor Olton”, Shaylee Breanna Dobberthein – Brooks (Chris) “Karson James and Delilah June” and Olivia Rose Cook. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.
She was a beautiful wife, a sweet mother, awesome grandmother and great grandmother and a friend to all. She truly had a heart of gold and a beautiful smile that lit the world up with joy. She will be missed by all.

Visitation will be held Thursday November 4th from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral Service at 11:30 AM at Funeraria del Angel Restlawn 8817 Dyer Street, followed Graveside Service at 1:00 PM at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Ave, El Paso, TX 79906.
