Mary Ann Syson, 81, of El Paso, Texas passed away Friday, July 29, 2022 at home after a long health battle. She was born on February 16, 1941 to the late Edward and Frances (Ciegelski) Drada in South Bend, Indiana. Mary Ann graduated from St. Joseph High School in South Bend.
On April 24, 1966 she married Hobert Syson at a ceremony in South Bend. Mary Ann worked in several different clerical positions throughout the years, with the most recent being a freight billing clerk with R & L Carriers and a receptionist with Knollwood Country Club. Mary Ann was a lifelong Catholic and served in several ministries. After spending most of her life in Indiana, Mary Ann relocated to El Paso to be with her two grandchildren whom she loved dearly.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Edward Drada, and three sisters, Gertrude Larsen, Ruth Barsodi, and Patricia Dickens.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Hobert Syson of El Paso, a daughter Melissa (Rudy) Navarro of El Paso, son Patrick (Yolanda) Syson of San Antonio, and two grandchildren Emily De La Rosa and Matthew De La Rosa, both of El Paso.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 7, 2022 from 4-8pm Hillcrest Funeral Home West with Rosary at 6pm Hillcrest Funeral West, 5054 Doniphan Dr. Funeral Mass will be held Monday, August 8, 2022 at 11am at St. Matthew Catholic Parish, 400 W. Sunset Rd. Graveside Service will follow at Restlawn Cemetery, 4848 Alps.
