Mary Jane Vasek slipped away from us on August 17, 2013 in El Paso, Texas. She was born on January 1, 1927 in Binghamton, New York to John and Mary Getsy, and was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Louis Vasek.
Mary first came to El Paso in 1949 where her husband was stationed in the United States Air Force. Her first acquaintances, and soon to become lifelong friends, were Eleanor and Richard Haggerty. Mary first worked at Mountain Bell Telephone Company and thereafter for Civil Service, primarily at the Defense Language Institute (DLI) and the United States Army Air Defense Board at Fort Bliss, Texas. She was a devout Catholic, a member of Sigma Sigma Sorority, loved to play Bingo and listen to the music of Johnny Mathis, Bobby Vinton, and Englebert Humperdink. She kept her wit and humor to the very end and now she and Lou are jitterbugging together in Heaven. Our world is much less interesting without her in it.
Mary Jane is survived by her children, Sandra Walsch, Thomas Louis Vasek, and Cindy Daniels and husband, David Daniels; two grandchildren, Cheryl Ann Fineron and Michael Douglas Younke and wife, Minerva, and three great grandchildren, Ryan Daniel Fineron, Cody James Fineron, and Louis Michael Daniels; as well as her two sisters, Florence Edson and Frances Pavlik; and lifelong dear friends, Anna and Randy Vanne and their family.
Our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Alicia Dones and Peace of Mind Foster Care.
