On Saturday, April 9, 2011, Michael "Mike" Snyder passed away at age 86. He was born in Monaca, Pennsylvania to John and Rose Snyder. He is preceded in death by his parents, eight brothers, and two sisters. Survivors include Betty, his loving wife of 58 years, his son David and his wife Mary Ann, daughter Mary Beth Schue and her husband Mark. Mike is also survived by four grandchildren, Benjamin, Daniel, Hannah, and Joey. He is also survived by his brother Steve and his wife Betty. Mike was a United States Marine from 1942 - 1963, retiring as a Staff Sergeant, having served in the Pacific during World War II, China, and Korea. He also worked at Fort Bliss in Civil Service from 1966 - 1991. Mike was a real people person. He had a great sense of humor, and the biggest heart. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Mike will be laid to rest with full military honors at Fort Bliss National Cemetery on Friday, April 15 at 10:00am. We will celebrate his life on Friday, April 15, in worship at First Presbyterian Church, 1340 Murchison Drive at noon. A reception at the church will be held immediately following the service. All friends are welcome. In lieu of flowers, the family has set up a memorial fund at First Presbyterian Church. All gifts to the memorial fund will be given to the church's Mission Committee for their work. Our lives are richer for having known and loved him, and we are grateful he is now enjoying the riches of Heaven!
