"Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father's house has many rooms... I am going there to prepare a place for you."
John 14:1-3
Minnie P. Stokes, lovingly known as "Mother," peacefully entered eternal rest on June 28, 2026, at the age of 90. Born in Enterprise, Mississippi, Minnie lived a life defined by faith, unconditional love, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to her family. As a devoted homemaker, she created more than a house, she created a home where everyone was welcomed with warmth, kindness, and a caring heart. Her greatest purpose was caring for those she loved, and she embraced that calling with grace, humility, and selfless dedication every day of her life.
Family was the center of Minnie's world. She was a devoted wife to her beloved husband, William M. Stokes, and a nurturing mother whose love, guidance, and sacrifices shaped the lives of her children. She taught by example the values of faith in God, hard work, compassion, respect, and perseverance. Her wisdom, gentle spirit, comforting embrace, and quiet encouragement became the foundation upon which generations of her family were built. Whether preparing a family meal, offering a listening ear, or praying for those she loved, Minnie found joy in serving others. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William M. Stokes, her parents, and her siblings. Her legacy lives on through the family she cherished and the countless lives she touched with her kindness and generosity.
Although our hearts are heavy with grief, we find comfort in knowing that Minnie's journey on earth was one of purpose, love, and faith. The lessons she taught, the traditions she created, and the unconditional love she shared will continue to guide her family for generations to come. While we will deeply miss her smile, her gentle presence, and her words of encouragement, we rejoice in the promise that she is now at peace in the loving arms of our Lord and reunited with those who went before her. A Celebration of Life honoring Minnie P. Stokes will be held on Friday, July 10, 2026, at Hillcrest Funeral Home, where family and friends will gather to celebrate a remarkable woman whose greatest legacy will always be the love she gave so freely.
"Well done, good and faithful servant."
