

Ninfa Rey, 93, was received into her heavenly home on Sunday, September 4. She is preceded in death by her husband, Louis Rey. She is survived by her daughters, Gloria Chavez and Virginia Rey, honorary son Thomas Rey, honorary daughters, Bernadette Rey and Hilda Rodriguez, sisters, Olga Frias and Bertha Flores. Grandchildren Cristina, Carlos, and Salvador Hernandez as well as two great-granddaughters, Athena and Celeste Gomez. Ninfa will be remembered as a woman of great faith in God and a devout Catholic who was a very proud member of the Guadalupanas, Catholic Daughters of America, the Altar Society, a Spanish lector, and a Minister of the Eucharist. Ninfa was a basketball legend in her hometown of Torreon, Mexico where she was the star player and later coached a championship team. Ninfa was also a homemaker dedicated to her family and a wonderful cook and baker who will always be remembered for her beautiful cakes and scrumptious cookies. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 9:00pm on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, 8600 Winchester with a Vigil Service at 6:00pm and mass immediately following at 7:00pm. Funeral Procession to Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Ave. begins at Hillcrest Funeral Home on Friday, September 9, 2016 promptly at 10:00am. Interment to follow at 10:30am.
