Our beloved mother and grandmother, Nouha Chatila Sayklay, age 88, passed away on Friday, February 19, 2016 surrounded by family and loved ones. Now in the arms of the Lord, she is joyfully reunited with her husband and so many loved ones. Nouha was born on December 25, 1927 in Jdaide, Lebanon to Abdallah and Isabelle Chatila. As a young woman, she moved to Montreal, Canada to live and work with family which inspired her love of sewing. While visiting family in El Paso, she met the love of her life Joseph R. Sayklay. They were married for 55 years until his death in 2015. Nouha adored her three children and embraced the role of “Sito” by being instrumental in every aspect of her grandchildren’s lives with her unconditional love. Nouha lived her life in service to the Lord and her family with true love and devotion. Nouha’s philosophy was the door was always open, everyone was welcome, and life was a celebration. Nouha had a passion for entertaining, cooking, and fashion and did everything with impeccable taste. She was very active in the community as a member of the Lebanese American Women’s Club of El Paso, the Syrian American Ladies Club of El Paso, the MED Club and Roncalli Dinner Club. Always a lady, she conducted herself with style and grace and will be deeply missed by all those who love her. Nouha is preceded in death by her father Abdallah, her mother Isabelle, and her sister Gladys. She is survived by her son John (Roxanne), daughter JoAnn, and son Michael (Molly). Nouha was blessed with five grandchildren who cherished her greatly; Annalisa, Jacob, Nicholas, William, and Samantha. She is also survived by her siblings, Eveline, Violette, Marie, Renee, Elie, and Nicolas as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family is forever grateful to the kindhearted and tireless care provided by Liz Rivas Angels on Hand, Nelly Dominguez, Sandra Alvarado, Rita Rayas, and the dedicated staff at Hospice of El Paso. In lieu of flowers, the family gratefully requests that memorial contributions be made to The Alzheimer’s Association. Serving as pallbearers are grandsons Jacob, Nicholas, and William Sayklay, George Elias, Joseph Sayklay, and James Sayklay. Honorary pallbearer is Albert Nabhan. Visitation will be held Thursday, February 25, 2016 from 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm, with the Rosary at 7:00 pm at Martin Funeral Home West Chapel, 128 N. Resler, El Paso, Texas.
