Ofelia Armendariz 88 years old passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on July 10, 2026. She was born on November 16, 1937 in Delicias, Chihuahua, Mexico. As a teenager, she moved to El Paso, Texas, beginning a new chapter in her life. Guided by a deep faith and compassionate heart, she entered a monastery and devoted two years to religious life. After a brief illness, she left the monastery and moved in with her sister, continuing a life centered on faith, family, and love.
In 1962, she married the love of her life Juan Armendariz, in El Paso. Together, they built a life rooted in love, faith, and devotion to family. As a devoted Catholic, her faith was the foundation of her life. She faithfully served as an Extraordinary Eucharistic minister and was an active member of the St. Paul Apostle Catholic Church. She lived her faith with quiet strength, compassion, and generosity, always offering kindness, encouragement, and a helping hand. Her unwavering devotion to God, her family, and her community will be remembered as a lasting part of her legacy. Ofelia found joy in life’s simple pleasures.
She loved to dance and her warm smile, gentle spirit, and her loving heart brought happiness to those around her. She treasured time with her family and friends, creating memories filled with laughter, love and togetherness. She will be remembered for her kindness, her faith and the love she shared cooking, sewing, watching novelas, traveling, and caring for her grandchildren and family.
She was survived by her daughters Maria Armendariz, Monica Armendariz Ortiz and son Pete Armendariz (Grace) as well as sisters Cristina Ramirez, Maria Lourdes Ramirez Munoz, Fabiola VuKich, Rosa Emma Ramirez, Irma Gonzalez. Grandchildren Angela Rae Greco (Evan), Nathaniel Armendariz (Amanda), Natalie Armendariz, RJ Ortiz and Great grandchild Gabriel Joseph Ortiz. Ofelia also leaves many loving brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, godsons, goddaughters, cousins, nieces and nephews to cherish her memory.
Ofelia is preceded in death by her husband Juan Armendariz+, father Agustin Ramirez+, mother Angela Salas+, siblings Pedro Salas+, Rafaela Garcia+, Manuel Perez+ (Carmen)+, Mario Ramirez+, and Maria De Jesus Ramirez+ (Enrique)+.
