It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Oscar Navarro, a beloved member of our family; husband, father, son, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend, who left us too soon. Oscar’s journey on earth ended early morning on February 17, 2024, at Las Palmas Medical Center marking the conclusion of a life lived with laughter, love and an unwavering commitment to those he held dear. He was the youngest of 4 children, born in El Paso, Texas on August 1, 1967 to Irene Davila and Jorge Navarro.
Oscar leaves behind his beloved wife, Lorena Navarro, and beloved children: Brandon Navarro, Dylan Navarro, and Rocco Navarro. Oscar married the love of his life, Lorena Gonzalez on August 27, 1994. They were celebrating their 30th year anniversary this year, a milestone that speaks volumes of the deep bond and affection he shared with his wife.
He is mourned by his mother, Irene Davila, his aunt, Maria Elena Hernandez, his siblings, Yolanda Miranda (Hernandez) and George Hernandez.
Oscar is predeceased by his father Jorge Navarro, his sister, Linda Hernandez, grandparents Manuel and Carolina Davila, and Uncle Reynaldo Navarro.
Born to a family that instilled in him the values of hard work and dedication, Oscar grew into a man who embodied those principles in every facet of his life. He was a hardworking and a dedicated employee of Los Alamos Laboratories in New Mexico where he worked for the last 7 years as a plumber and pipefitter. Prior to his work at Los Alamos, he worked in various positions and locations over a period of 17 years as part of Local Union 231 and Local Union 412. He was a proud member of both Unions for approximately 24 years. His motivation for work was to provide for his family. He sacrificed being away during the week while working in Los Alamos, but would always find his way back home to his family on weekends and always for special family events. If you ever had the opportunity to talk to him while he was driving home, you could hear the happiness in his voice knowing he was going home to see his family.
Oscar was extremely friendly, soft spoken with an easy going manner. He was strong willed and stubborn at times, but he also had an enormous heart and was extremely generous. He was loyal, and bold. He was clever and filled with the knowledge gained through all of his life experiences. Although he could be a bit stubborn and set in his ways, he was a kind and gentle soul; quiet and refined, with an amiable nature. He tended to listen more than he spoke, showed compassion for others, and was so much fun to be around.
Oscar was also a child at heart, with a wonderful sense of humor who always managed to find joy in any situation. He had a talent for making people laugh, always ready with a witty response, a joke, a prank. He had gorgeous dimples, a charming smile and his laughter was infectious. In fact, although the jokes he told or the pranks he played were funny; most of the time we were actually laughing at watching and hearing him laugh at his own jokes and pranks. He also had a unique and amusing way of expressing his love and affection. Most of the time it was through joking around and playing fun pranks, and of course, we were all well aware of his characteristic and symbolic expression of love, his unique saying, “Te bañas”!
Though a man of few words, Oscar’s sense of humor was a light that brightened the lives of those around him. Despite his shy nature, the depth of Oscar’s emotions was unmistakable. It is true that actions speak louder than words. Words were not necessary when you saw the love in his eyes, the smile on his face and most importantly his actions revealing the immense love and care he had for his family and friends. His family was his passion and there was nothing he would not do for them to ensure their happiness. He was active and involved in his children’s’ lives, never missing a birthday or special event. They were the center of his universe. They were his priority; his pride and joy. His legacy of love and devotion will undoubtedly live on through them.
We knew not that morning that God was going to call your name. In life we loved you dearly, in death we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone; for part of us went with you the day God called you home. You left us beautiful memories, your love is still our guide, and though we cannot see you, you are always by our side. Our family chain is broken, now there is so much pain, But as God calls us one by one, our family chain will one day be the same.
As we mourn the loss of Oscar, we also celebrate his life and the countless memories we were fortunate to share with him. His spirit, characterized by humor, hard work, and an immeasurable love for his family, will forever be remembered and cherished. We thank the Lord for having had you in our lives. We love and miss you and will forever carry you in our memories and in our hearts. Until we meet again, rest in peace Oscar!
