

Pedro “Pete” Martinez, passed away on January 2, 2014. He is preceded in death by his children Rudy Martinez, Belinda Frausto & Maria Martinez survived by his wife of 60 years, Socorro Martinez and his sons Pete Martinez (Mague), Oscar Martinez (Yvonne), Frank Martinez (Linda), daughters Yolanda Mitchell, Sylvia Loucks, Karen Martinez, and Melissa Martinez, 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII on the Destroyer USS Bell, which along with other ships aided in the sinking of a Japanese submarine. He loved being surrounded by his family and friends. During his 95 years of life he had many hobbies some of which included a good game of golf, baseball, piloting, telling jokes and his crossword puzzles, but his favorite was watching the television. He was a wonderful father and grandfather who will greatly be missed. We would like to thank Yolanda Menchaca for taking good care of him throughout his illness and Margarita Puente who had a special place in his heart as well as ours. Visitation will be Monday, January 6, 2014 from 5:00 to 9:00 pm with recitation of the Holy Rosary to begin at 7:00 pm. At Funeraria Del Angel Martin East. Funeral Mass Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at 11:30 am. at St. Thomas Aquinas, 10970 Bywood. Interment will follow at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery.
