Pedro A. Sanchez, 89, beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather passed away December 10, 2023. He was preceded in death by his wife, Zulema G. Sanchez of 42 years. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Francisco and Beatriz Sanchez; siblings, Alberto, Maria de Jesus and Enriqueta Sanchez. He is survived by his children, Espi Gibbs (Tim), Annie Duchene (Steve), Frank Sanchez (Jeannie), his five grandchildren and 8 grandchildren, his siblings Salvador and George Sanchez. Pete proudly served in the United States Army for 22 years and retired as a Sergeant First Class. He honorably served in the Korean War and received various awards and commendations. In his latter years, he enjoyed sharing his adventures in the army with his family and friends. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed making others laugh. Pete was also a proud member of DAV (Disabled American Veterans) and enjoyed supporting their program and the camaraderie he developed with his fellow veterans. A visitation will be held Monday, December 18, 2023 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm with the rosary at 6:00 pm at Hillcrest Funeral Home, 1060 N. Carolina. A Funeral Mass will take place Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at 8:30 am at Our Lady of Assumption, 4805 Byron, followed by the interment at 10:00 am at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson, where he will be laid to rest with military honors.
