

Rachel Ann Young Hamilton, age 80, passed away quietly on November 11th in Dallas TX. She was born in Carrizozo, NM on April 26, 1935 to Nilie and Charles Young. They preceded her in death as well as her husband Lloyd Hamilton Sr., and sister Helen Lie.
Rachel was a lifelong resident of El Paso, TX, graduating from Austin High in 1952. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Texas Western in 1956 and a Master’s degree from UTEP. She was passionate about children’s education and spent her entire career with the El Paso ISD retiring in 1995 as a respected and beloved Principal of Johnson Elementary. During her career, Rachel also served on numerous boards, committees and organizations including El Paso ISD Administrators Association, Elementary Principals Organization, Phi Delta Kappa and P.E.O. where she served as president in 2007.
Beyond her career, Rachel was a loving, passionate advocate for her 3 children and 7 grandchildren and a devoted friend to so many. She enjoyed gardening and, especially, crafts and painting and loved sharing these hobbies with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Sharon Ninkovich (Chris), Rachel Barnes (Greg), and William Wofford (Linda); grandchildren Whitney Daniel, Jessica Foster, Meredith Barnes, Amanda Barnes, Jace Barnes, Sara Wofford, and Nathan Wofford.
