Rafael made a grand easy entrance into the World on February 14, 2003 in Las Cruces, NM to his proud parents Rafael Herrera Jr and Rebecca Arciniega. His grandparents Rafael Herrera Sr. and Noemi Herrera were a vital influence in his upbringing and faith.
Rafael was a proud Firefighter for Dona Ana Fire Rescue and helped serve his community. People would ask Rafael if he liked his job and with zero hesitation his reply was always; “I love it, it’s the best job in the World.”
He loved God, his family, his community, his work, music, photography, and so much more.
Rafael spent his final days in San Antonio, TX where he was bravely and patiently awaiting a heart transplant. He made several friends during his 111 day stay there that ranged from other patients to medical professionals. No matter where Rafael went he made a positive impact and transformed lives. He was humble, respectful, and well-liked by everyone. Rafael remained faithful in the Lord’s plan and purpose; the World has lost a great hero and will never be the same without him.
His memory will live on forever, and he is a great inspiration to those left to mourn him.
