Raquel Diaz Tafoya, age 89, passed away on November 22, 2021, in El Paso, Texas, surrounded by her family. Raquel is survived by her husband of 70 years, Audon Tafoya, her three adult children Helen Tafoya, Johnny Tafoya (Elvia), and Fernando Tafoya, sister Martha Maesse, her brother Mike Romero Jr. (Olga), her sister-in-law Alicia Tafoya, and lifelong friend, Lily Dominguez. She was blessed with 4 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 4 great great-grandchildren.
Raquel's family was the center of her life. Raquel excelled as a food service manager for over forty years. Her amazing food and magnetic personality were always a warm welcome to family and friends both near and far.
Raquel loved life's colors and asked that guests share in this love by wearing nature's colors at her services. Her favorite colors included red, purple, and fuchsia.
Visitation will be Sunday, December 5, 2021, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home located at 1060 North Carolina Drive, El Paso, Texas 79915. Rosary at 6:00 p.m.
Mass will be Monday, December 6, 2021, at 9:15 a.m. at San Antonio de Padua Catholic Church located at 503 Hunter Drive, El Paso, Texas 79915. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery East located at 12400 Montana, El Paso, Texas 79938.
