A private viewing for family will be held at Funeraria Del Angel/Hillcrest West Funeral Home at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 2, 2025. The Praying of the Rosary will follow the viewing at 6:30 p.m.
Funeral Mass will take place at St. Matthews Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2025. The church is located at 400 W. Sunset (corner of W. Sunset and River Bend) in west El Paso, Texas.
Burial will take place at Memorial Pines Cemetery in Sunland Park, New Mexico, immediately following the Mass at 3061 Memorial Pines Rd.
Raul, or as his family, friends and colleagues called him “Ruly” or “Senior”, was born in El Paso, Texas on May 3, 1943 to Jesus D. and Liduvina Carrillo. He married Neva Dominguez, also of El Paso, and they celebrated their anniversary in December for the next 62 years. A Cathedral High School graduate, Raul earned a degree in business later in life from the University of Texas at El Paso. A businessman for all of his life, Ruly’s work included many years with the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company managing local and regional stores, including those in Northeast and Downtown El Paso, and Clovis and Albuquerque, New Mexico. For many years he worked for and managed the El Paso Factory Outlet Tire Company. For the last 18 years of his life, he managed the Carrillo Law Firm, P.C., in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
Raul is preceded in death by his mother and father, and sisters Herlinda (Ortiz), Josefina (Montoya) and Sabina (Moeller), and his grandson Matthew Thomas Daniel. He is survived by his wife, Neva, son Raul, Jr., daughters Monalinda Daniel and Angelina Philbin, brothers Jesus and Jaime and sister Olga; grandchildren Katherine Scarlett Daniel, Raul III, Daniel Abran, Jacob Stuart Daniel, Samuel Isaac, Maximillian Atticus Philbin, Jackson Philbin, Joseph Daniel, Emiliano Rafael and Elias Quintosol, and great grandchildren Alayna, Adalyn and Matthew T. Daniel; family members Mary Carrillo, Alicia Laureano, Hortencia Carrillo, Al Guzman; Nina Marie O’Daniel, Michael Philbin, Stuart Daniel, Sharon Burguete-Carrillo, Laura M. Uribarri, Charles Fuentes, Shay Carrillo, Leanne Daniel, and Amber Daniel, and many nieces and nephews from California to Italy.
Pallbearers are Raul Carrillo III, Samuel Carrillo, Jacob Daniel, Joseph Daniel, Jackson Philbin, Emiliano Carrillo and Elias Carrillo. Honorary Pallbearers are Mario Trujillo, Benjamin Gomez, Michael Philbin, Armando Garcia, Jaime F. Carrillo and Charles Fuentes.
Assisting with the pall at the Funeral Mass are Elisa Romero, Olivia Fierro, Laura M. Uribarri and Sharon Burguete-Carrillo. Leanne Daniel and Katherine Scarlett Daniel will bear the gifts to the alter.
The family gives special thanks to the physicians and health care professionals who attended Raul during his initial diagnosis and final illness, including, without limitation and with apologies to those not listed, Dr. Stephanie Han, Dr. Raul Portillo, Dr. Abraham Gonzales, Dr. Jeffrey Taber, Dr. Jaime Quesada, Dr. Paramveer Saluja, Dr. Nnaemeka Chikwendu, Dr. Jose Burgos and the nurses and staff at Bartlett Skilled Nursing; the amazing angels and staff at Providence Memorial Hospital, the first responders of the City of El Paso Fire Department, and a special thanks to Dr. Syed Yusoof, who helped make the whole process more intelligible in the last days of Raul’s illness.
