Reynaldo “Rey” was born in Camargo Chihuahua on March 12, 1937, but he spent most of his great life in Sunland Park, NM. He graduated from Bowie High School in May 1956, which is where he met the love of his life Mrs. Gloria Pinela Terrazas. Rey and Gloria were married on December 10, 1955. This year marked their 63rd wedding anniversary as husband and wife.
As a young man, Rey excelled as an amateur and pro boxer, which earned him a spot in the El Paso Karate/Boxing Hall of Fame (inducted October 1997). He enjoyed a professional career for a while before focusing on raising his family. Rey and Gloria were parents to eight sons and daughters.
Rey was a hard-working man who supported his family as a cook at local favorite Chico’s Tacos, and as an electrician at Lone Star Electric. When he wasn’t working though, he was enjoying life. Rey loved to watch boxing and football, and he enjoyed visiting Sunland Park casino for the horse racing and slots. Most of all though, Rey loved being with family. Rey’s house was always full of the love and laughter of his 8 children, 11 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. Rey could never be seen without a smile when surrounded by his family.
Rey was preceded in death by his son Reynaldo Terrazas Jr., and is survived by his daughters Emma Gonzales, Alicia Rivera, Espy Rodriguez, Isela Terrazas, Margie Terrazas, Lisa Terrazas, and his son Eddie Terrazas.
Rey had 6 siblings. He was preceded in death by his brothers Ricardo, Manuel (Meñol), and Luis, and sisters Julieta and Rosario. Rey is survived by his brother Jorge.
Visitation will be at Hillcrest Funeral Home West, 5054 Doniphan Dr, El Paso, TX. 4:00pm – 8:00pm, December 27th, with a rosary at 6:00pm.
Mass will be held at 10:00am, December 28, at San Martin De Porres Catholic Church, 1885 McNutt Rd, Sunland Park, NM. Committal Service at Memorial Pines Cemetery, 3061 Memorial Pines Ln, Sunland Park.
