Ricardo Reyes Ramirez

April 3, 1954-November 5, 2024

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Ricardo (Rick) R. Ramirez, age 70. He was born on April 3, 1954, to Juan and Luz Ramirez in El Paso. He peacefully entered the Lord’s embrace on Tuesday, November 5, 2024.

Rick graduated from Gadsden High School in 1972 and during his senior year he worked part time at White Sands. In October 1974, he began to work for Whitfield Buses as a school bus mechanic. When Helweg and Farmer purchased the company, he went on to be the shop foreman and continued until retirement. After 49 years, he retired from what is now known as STS of New Mexico school bus company with the Las Cruces Public Schools on November 3, 2023.

In 1988, Rick married the love of his life Gracie O. Ramirez and lived in Anthony, NM with their many cherished and loved animals.

Rick is survived by his wife, Gracie O. Ramirez, his daughters Cecilia (Dominic) Griego of Virginia and Vanessa (Phillip) Flores (estranged) of Las Cruces, brothers Arturo (Claudia), Hector (Patty), and Dave Ramirez, his sisters Juana Garces, Lorenza Vega, Mary Lou Ramirez, Tillie Vielma, Mary Ann Avalos, Maxine (Hector) Briceno, Felicia (Martin) Gallegos, along with grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceding in death are his parents Juan and Luz Ramirez, sister Bertha Paz, in-laws Freelin and Socorro Barajas, and sister-in-law Yolanda Ortiz.

Cremation has taken place, and a memorial mass will be held on January 18, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Anthony, NM. Burial will follow at a later date.
