Rev. Richard Weiss, 82, was called home to the Lord on Tuesday, June 30th. He was born in Pittsburg, PA, was ordained a Deacon in August of 1979 by the Most Reverend Patricio Flores in El Paso, TX, and ordained a priest in Monroeville, PA by the Most Reverend Reymundo Peña. Father Weiss served in numerous parishes throughout the El Paso Diocese, including St.Thomas Aquinas & Our Lady of Assumption. During his tenure, he served as Spiritual Director of St. Charles Seminary, Director of Reverence for Life, Director of the Permanent Deaconate Program, and served in the Presbyteral Council. He retired from active ministry in 2017 after 37 years of faithful service.
Father Weiss is preceded in death by his parents Walter A. Weiss, Mary C. Weiss, brothers, Walters A. Weiss, Jr, Ronald C. Weiss, and sister Audrey M. Nicholson.
Fr. Weiss will be interred at Mt. Carmel Cemetery and a Memorial Mass will be celebrated at a later date. In memory of Fr. Weiss, donations can be made to Casitas San Mateo, 499 St. Matthews Street, El Paso, TX 79907.
