

passed away on July 12, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born June 28, 1928 in
Marfa, Texas to Raymundo Gomez and Rafaela Jimenez Gomez. He graduated from Marfa High
School in 1948 and later attended college to major in education. He served in the United States Army
and fought during World War II under the 82nd Airborne Division. In 1947 he was awarded the Victory
Medal which stands for “Freedom from Fear and Want.” When on to study business which lead him to
become a Western Auto Manager for 30 years. After retiring he achieved a certificate in refrigerator
repair technician. He enjoyed visiting his daughters for delicious home cook meals and looked forward
in attending morning gatherings of friends at his local McDonalds.
He was married to Evelyn Bullis Gomez on August 7, 1946 in which they celebrated 51 years of
marriage before her passing away. He is now reunited with his wife the love of his life and his greatly
missed grandson Alfonso Salas. He was a self motivated, intelligent, hard working, mister fix-it,
overcomer, handsome, debonair gentleman, and loved by many. He will be remember for his work
ethics, his wisdom, his life encouragements, his amazing skills in dealing with people, and his way of
laughing at life.
His memory will be cherished and kept alive by his children Christina Diaz, Sandra Bustamante,
Flossie Rico, Elizabeth Forgatch, Sonia Gomez, and Roberto Gomez Jr. He also leaves behind 11
grandchildren Evelyn, David Jr., Melissa, Jamiel, Iris, Yolanda, Bianca, Christopher, Corina, Fiona,
and Serena; 14 great grandchildren Alexis, David, Elijah, Julian, Briana, Eloize, Makayla, Elias,
DeAngelo, Joseph, Josiah, Aaron, Jacklyn, and Landon; and one great-great-granddaughter Emily.
