Rogelio (Roger) Pena peacefully entered eternal life on September 3, 2023. He was preceded in death by his father Manuel, mother Marcelina, five brothers, one sister, a great-grandchild, and his former wife Carmen. Roger is survived by his twin brother Joe, sister Victoria, sons Andrew (Lisa) and Roger, and daughter Carol (Richard). He leaves behind ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Roger was a Matachin dancer in his youth and a talented artist. He was a proud Bowie Bear alumnus. Roger proudly served in the US Air Force and dedicated over three decades of his life to the U.S. Postal Service. A strong believer in helping his community, he played an active role in civic and work-related organizations, such as the Crescendo Civic Club and the NALC. He loved to dance and meet people.
As a former parishioner of Our Lady of the Valley, Roger actively participated as a lector and committee member of the church community for several years. In retirement, Roger continued to demonstrate his selflessness and kindness by volunteering at local hospitals.
Roger's charm and storytelling abilities were admired by all who knew him. He lived a life filled with love towards his family, faith, and simplicity, and his presence will be deeply missed.
Though we mourn his passing, we find solace in knowing that Roger is now free from suffering and will continue to watch over us each day. We extend our gratitude to the staff at Springdale Adult Foster Home Araceli, Claudia, Cecilia, and Liz for their devoted, loving, and compassionate care of Roger.
