2 special memories of visiting Ron and Linda and exploring the nearby areas. When Ron was stationed at Homestead Airforce Base in Florida in the 70's I visited around Easter time. Ron was eager to show me around that area of Florida. One day we went to the Everglades and took an airboat ride out through the swamps, seeing lots of wild life and beautiful flowers. Another day the 3 of us went all the way to Key West stopping at various tourist spots along the way. I especially remember Parrot Jungle and Ron posing with one of the large birds and also seeing the many gorgeous orchids growing in that climate.
The second adventure was just a few years ago when I visited them in El Paso. Ron was eager to take his new camping rig up to New Mexico and show me the sights there. We camped at a small state (?) park and then explored the nearby area including White Sands with its towering dunes of pure white and a nearby space museum containing many actual pieces of equipment from the US space program's early days. Good memories!
