El Paso – It is with great sadness that our family announces Ronney’s (Ron) passing on Saturday, February 18, 2023. Ron died from Left-Frontal-Temporal Lobe -Dementia.
A beloved father, grandfather, uncle, and brother to Terry L. King, (Marty) of Phoenix, Arizona. Ron was born June 6,1962, at the U.S Marine Supply Depot, Hospital, Barstow, California. To Preston (PL) and Rosemary King, nee Patera. Ron was the son of a U.S. Army career soldier.
Ron is survived by his parents PL and Rosemary King, his three daughters: Kristina Rose King, Tifani Savannah Martin, nee King, (Justin), MacKenzie Ruth King and two granddaughters: Sophia Beatrice and Myla Lorraine Martin. Uncles, Ross L., Idaho, and William O. King, Washington. Nieces Debra S. Argentine, nee King, New Mexico, Cindy L. Dodson, nee King, Oregon.
Two years after graduating from Andress High School in El Paso, he joined the U.S. Army, September 1986, in El Paso, Texas. After basic training at Fort Bliss, Texas. Ronney was on his way to his next assignment to Individual Advance Training (AIT) Fort Gordon, Georgia, Communications Systems Training. After AIT he was assigned to 3RD Armored Calvary Regiment (ACR), Fort Bliss, Texas. He was deployed on Operation Desert Storm in1991, and two more deployments, Operation Iraqi Freedom, 2003-2004 and 2005-2006, All three of his deployments was with the 3rd ACR. His last military assignment was with the 3rd ACR, Fort Carson, Colorado. He retired in September 2006, achieving the rank of Sergeant Frist Class E7, from the U.S. Army. Ronney received many Awards during his military career.
After his military years, he continued his education by graduating from Colorado Technical University in 2008, with a BS in Business Administration/Information Technology. In 2009 he graduated from Colorado Technical University with a Master’s in Information Technology (IT). His education afforded him the opportunity to be an IT Specialist with military Post Exchange, traveling to many military installations providing technical assistance. In 2012 Ron was hired at Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado Springs, CO., as an Information Technology Security Specialist. He remained with the Air Forces until February 2016, when his dementia became so severe, he could no longer perform his duties for this Air Force.
Ron’s hobby was fishing with friends and taking his daughters along to teach them how to fish.
Graveside Service will be Friday, March 17, 2023 at 2:30p.m. at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with full military honors.
