

Chayo was born in El Paso, TX., on October 7th, 1940, and married his beloved wife, Armida Martinez on August 1st, 1964. He is survived by his wife for 60 years, and children, Norma Guevara (Richard), Edward Martinez (Sonia), Sylvia Lawrence (Marshall), and Sandra Espinoza (Adrian), 8 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren, his sister, Andrea "Gloria" Villalva, and brother, Jose Roberto "Bobby" Trevizo. He is preceded in death by his parents, Eulalio Martinez and Catalina Trevizo.
Chayo was a dedicated employee for the Southern Pacific, now Union Pacific Railroad. He retired after 30 years of honorable railroading service as a Switchman/Brakeman. Chayo's journey through life was marked by his work ethic, wisdom, love of God and family. Anyone who knew him recognized and admired him for his nobleness, kindness and respect. He enjoyed family time, celebrations, gardening, vacations, camping, brain teasers, and cookouts with Bud Light. He was an avid fan of the Cowboys and Yankees and was loved by many for his sense of humor and always good advice. We will miss you Pops!
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a Rosary at 7 p.m. on
Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2024, at Hillcrest Funeral Home, 1060 N. Carolina Dr.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2024, at St. John Paul II, 518 Gallagher St., El Paso, TX., followed by interment at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, 401 S. Zaragoza Rd., El Paso, TX.
