Ruben Leyva, 94, transitioned peacefully Tuesday, July 18, 2023 in El Paso Texas. Ruben was born and raised in El Paso, He enlisted in both Army and Naval services. He was a Naval veteran of the Korean War and received the 1 Star Korean Service Medal, United National Service medal and Good Conduct Medal During his service in World War II, he was a recipient of the Victor Medal.
Ruben was predeceased by his parents, Aurora and Sabino, his siblings Carolina, Eloisa, Margarita, Aurora, and Juanita. He is survived by his wife Fernanda; his children, Beatriz, Norma, Ruben Jr, and Rose Mary; his 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; and, siblings, Rita, Martha, and Richard; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Wednesday July 26, 2023. Viewing will take place at Crestview Funeral Home, 1462 N. Zaragoza Rd 11:30am -1:30 pm with a rosary at 1:00 pm., following the viewing Ruben will be laid to rest at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery, burial time 2:30.
Pallbearers will be Manuel Garcia, Mathew,and Lawrence Acosta, Thomas Prokopchuk, and Armando Leyva.
