Russell Eugene Nichols

Russell Eugene Nichols passed away February 12, 2015 in El Paso, Texas he was 89, and born October 29, 1925, in Columbus, Nebraska to Russell Edward and Clara Constancia Nichols. He was a WWII veteran, having served in the US Army as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division.

Russ was a photo engraver, restaurant owner and president of the Garner, Iowa Lions club, an avid golfer and member of the Anthony Country Club. Russ had an amazing sense of humor and zest for life that was contagious. He was a devoted husband, father and a loyal friend to those who knew him.

Russ was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Scott Swenson. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Alice, daughters Margene (Ron) Swenson, Vicky Nichols, Anne Nichols, Kathleen (Stacy) McNeil; grandchildren David, Ron and Christopher Swenson, Matthew Urbanec and Michael Nichols; 11 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild.

Pall bearers will be Stacy McNeil, Matthew Urbanec, Ron Swenson, Ramon Lozano, Mac Whitaker and Manny Garcia.

Services have been entrusted to Martin Funeral Home West, 128 N Resler Dr El Paso TX 79912, with a visitation to be held Monday, February 16, 2015 from 5 – 9 pm, rosary at 7 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 1551 Belvidere Street. Interment will follow at Memory Garden of the Valley Cemetery.
