“Sakinat Esman Skinner passed away October 7, 2020 in El Paso,TX . She was born on June 2, 1932 to Mohammad Abed Esman and Nazera Hussein Esman in Cd. Juarez , Mexico. The family immigrated to the United States in 1944. Sakinat went to Morehead Elementary where she learned English and went on to El Paso High School , where she was an all-around outstanding student. She went to Texas Western College for two years before she joined the U.S. Civil Service Commission where she had an accomplished career. It was during this time that she met her future husband, David Skinner to whom she married Christmas Eve 1972. As her parents grew older and needed more care and help, it was Dave and Sakinat who devoted much of their time to assisting them. As a housewife she enjoyed cooking and baking, especially her shortbread, loved by all the family. Sakinat was an avid reader and a lover of the fine arts. She loved music, and in particular Arabic and Mariachi music. Nothing was loved as much as her “paletas “, coffee lollipops that were always at arms-length. Sakinat is survived by her sister Marie Esman Barker and five nephews: Toby Esman, Mike Esman, Scott Esman, Alan Barker, and Freddie Esman and their families. Sakinat was preceded in death by Husband- Dave Skinner, Parents- Abed Esman Sr. and Nazera Esman, brothers Fuad Esman and Abed Esman Jr. and family -wife Sharon and daughter Christie Esman. Burial services will be October 8th, 2020 at Memory Gardens of the Valley at 1pm. “
