Samuel R. Millwood (Indian) passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2022. Samuel was born in Cedar Valley, St. Thomas on April 10, 1954 where he was raised by his father, grandparents and aunt after losing his mother at the tender age of 4. At the age of 7, he began attending Cedar Valley All-Age School beginning his academic path. A few years later, at 15, he would migrate to Kingston to study mechanics and begin working towards a career. He then got a job at Desnoes and Geddes LTD (D&G) where he worked part time and went to trade part time.
Now an Auto-mechanic and working on his own, Samuel met Carleen Grant. They produced their first Child Recardo. Shortly after came the second child, Jermaine. They decided to get married. They lived with their 2 children. Samuel worked hard to provide for his family. Samuel was employed at Desnoes and Geddes LTD (D&G) doing his auto-mechanic work, while continuing to work for himself. During this time, he continued to love his children, wife, and career and worked hard to keep the family together and thriving. This love resulted in a growing family, 4 more sons, Robert, Brian, Odane and Norman.
Samuel and the family migrated to America in 1991 where they worked very hard to provide for their large family. After a few years in the U.S., they welcomed one more son, David, bringing the total to 7 boys. Over the years he did his best to support his family working as an auto-mechanic and a cable installer all over the Tri-Borough area for many years. In 2002, Samuel and Carleen started a cleaning company, working alongside them were their sons, helping to execute contracts and maintain the business. Samuel always did his best to ensure that the family had what they needed and was always willing to help in any way he could.
Prior to his passing, he was employed as a private security officer at GMSC Security Company. Samuel was always multi-talented and even though he did not have an advanced academic background, he took pride in the academic achievements and successful military careers of his boys, two of which are still actively serving. Samuel worked long hours but was always present to visit and available for long drives to out-of-state college campuses. Showing his love in the ways he knew how.
