Cita was a talented artist, a Fine Art Appraiser, community leader, mother, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to many. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Vassar College; Graduate Studies at UTEP and UCLA; participant Cornucopia v. American Society of Appraisers, London.
Cita was a certified Senior Fine Arts Appraiser belonging to the Appraisers Association and the American Society of Appraisers, founding member Valuors Consortium, Houston Texas. For 12 years she was the owner of the 222 Art Gallery on Cincinnati Street in El Paso. She had a patent and trademark for her art design called a “Plictych”, a folded panel painting. In addition Cita was a co-leader, Art Consultant with Sun Travel for European Art Tours. She was involved in researching Artists’ rights and royalties on a National level. Her professional credits include Who’s Who in American Art 1975-present, Who’s Who of American Women 1995, Who’s Who in the South and Southwest 1978-present.
Community involvement included , Advisory Board Leadership Arts, El Paso Opera Company, Pan American Round Table, Downtown Rotary Club, New Mexico Art History Conference, Mayors Art Advisory Committee, El Paso Cultural Committee, Kermezaar, Junior League of El Paso, El Paso Sun Carnival Association, UTEP Library, Museum of New Mexico, New Mexico Art History Association, Metropolitan Museum of Art, El Paso Symphony, Santa Fe Opera Guild, Casa Magoffin Companeros, El Dedon de Verde Garden Club, Comadres and Texas Psychiatric Society Auxiliary. Her most notable contribution to the city of El Paso was being named by the Mayor of El Paso as the 1st Chairman of the El Paso City Council’s Advisory Board to the El Paso Museum of Art’s 1992/1996. Her Advisory Board was singled out by the American Association of Museums as the model for similar boards across the country. This Board is credited with much of the efforts towards the new location of the El Paso Museum of Art in the downtown area.
Cita is preceded in death by her two husbands; Jack Reed Platt and Dr. Franklin Phillip Schuster (Kiko), her parents Frank Barron and Mildred Fletcher, her sister Mary Lawrence, her brother Barron Fletcher, her daughter Susan Smith Dempsey and her grandson Chris Rojas.
She is survived by her children Anne Reveley, Jack Fletcher Platt (Marta), Cita Ford (Gary), Shelley Saab (Bill), Brooke Stenicka, Claudia Sullivan (Mark), Francie Valdez, Rocky Schuster (TJ), Jeff Schuster (Pam), Jon Schuster, Paul Schuster (Shannon).
Her grandchildren, Justin Smith (Fiamma) , James Haddad (Claire), Starnes Reveley, Connor Reveley, Oscar Ramos, Victoria Platt, Joaquin Fletcher Platt, Michael Lawrence, Lauren Stenicka, James Valdez, Ryan Schuster, Colin Schuster and Avery Schuster.
Her great grandchildren are Ludovico Smith, Eugenio Smith and Oliver Haddad. Also her niece Catherine
Fortin (Tom) and nephew Barron III Fletcher (Rebecca) and their children, Andrew, Betsy and Matthew Fortin. Claire and Barron IIII Fletcher.
The family wishes to express our love and appreciation to the entire staff of Home Sweet Home especially Blanca, Dania and Basi for their loving care of our mother.
The service will be held on Monday, June 2, 2014, at 3 PM at the Anglican Church of St Clements.
