
Sidney Abraham Cohen, 82, of Summerlin, Las Vegas passed away on May 8, 2013 from a heart attack. He was born in Brooklyn, New York on October 6, 1930 where he grew up. He served in the US Army from 1953 to 1955 honoring his country in the Korean War. For almost 25 years he owned and operated Thrift Town U.S.A., a community Toy, Houseware and Outdoor furniture business located throughout Brooklyn, NY. He then moved his family to El Paso, Texas in 1978 and retired to Las Vegas in 2000. Sid could not sit still for a moment so he got a part time job at Home Depot where he quickly won employee of the month!
Sid cherished his family and leaves behind his beloved wife and best friend Bobbi Cohen of 56 years, his daughter Joy Booth, son Neil Cohen (Joy Prefer Cohen), grandchildren Amanda Booth, Gregory Cohen and Gabrielle Cohen and sister Helen Siegel (Harold Siegel), brother Robert Cohen (Seena Cohen) and brother in laws Larry Gold (Robin Gold) and Steve Gold (Karen Gold) as well as many other family members and friends who all will miss him dearly. He was a kind, gentle, generous, selfless and thoughtful person who was loved and admired by all. His biggest thrill was waking up early in the morning to make his special secret recipe of pancakes for his grandchildren who he adored. Graveside Service will be held on Sunday, May 12, 2013 at 2:00PM at B’nai Zion Cemetery, 3915 Gateway West, with Rabbi Stephen Leon officiating. Services entrusted to Martin Funeral Home West.
