

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Silvestre Talavera at the age of 79 of La Union, New Mexico. Silvestre sadly left our world on March 14th, 2025, after a life richly lived in service and kindness. Silvestre, a proud Vietnam Veteran served our country in 1968 and married Gloria Hernandez in 1969. In 1975 he started working for Banes Construction where he worked his way up as a superintendent. Many buildings in El Paso Silvestre has built. In 2010 Silvestre retired from Banes so he could travel. Silvestre and his wife Gloria traveled to Europe. They traveled to Italy, Germany, Budapest and many other places. We remember Silvestre also known as Silver too many to have a kind heart of gold. He had many hobbies, he loved to fish, go camping at Elephant Butte and go hunting. He also passed his time building and welding utility trailers and at the end of everyday he enjoyed sitting in his front yard every evening with his dog Bella. He is proceeded in death by his mother Adela Talavera and his brother Andrew Talavera. Survived by his wife Gloria H Talavera, his son Victor S Talavera, his daughter Cynthia M Talavera and his brother Cruz Talavera. Devoted grandfather to Isaac S Talavera, Alejandra Talavera, Matthew D Flores and Zachary S Talavera. Dearly loved by his great grandchildren, Rosalinda A Arvizo, Logan T Talavera, Alexander, Lucas S Talavera, Sophia A Flores and Everly Talavera. Family and friends, and others whose lives Silvestre touched are invited to Saint Anthony Catholic Church in Anthony, New Mexico on March 25th at 10:00. Active pallbearers are, Victor Talavera, Cruz Talavera, Orlando Talavera, Matthew Flores, Zachary Talavera and Marcos Arvizo.
An interment will be posted at a later date.
