Steven Louis Sullivan

Steven Louis Sullivan, age 78, of El Paso, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2026. He was born January 20, 1948, in Albert Lea, Minnesota.

Steven graduated from Plattsmouth High School in Nebraska in 1966. In 1967, he enlisted in the United States Army, serving honorably in the Vietnam War. After 25 years of dedicated service, he retired at the rank of Master Sergeant. While serving, he also continued his education, earning an Associate in Science degree from El Paso Community College in 1978.

During his distinguished military career, Steven earned numerous awards and medals, including the Meritorious Service Medal with oak leaf cluster, the Joint Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal with four oak leaf clusters, and the Army Achievement Medal. During the final nine years of his military service, he served as an Intelligence Analyst, applying his expertise to support critical intelligence operations and national security missions.

In his retirement years, Steven became a passionate leader in the El Paso Radio Controllers Club and the Academy of Model Aeronautics, where he shared his love for flying remote-controlled airplanes. He didn't just fly the planes-some boasting massive wingspans of up to 10 feet-but spent countless hours in his workshop meticulously building and assembling them, both for himself and for fellow club members. His craftsmanship, generosity, and friendship left a lasting impression on many, and he will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

He is survived by his mother, Agatha Stalwick; his brothers, David Sullivan (Joyce) and James Sullivan (Kimberly); his sisters, Rita Morrison, Patricia Gomez (Alan), and Kathleen Mavis (Edward); and his very special friends in El Paso, Jill and Britt Myrick. He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Steven B. Sullivan; his father, Paul Sullivan; his step-father, Donald Stalwick; his brother, Francis Sullivan (Jamie) and his brother-in-law Lou Morrison.

Steven L. Sullivan will be buried at the National Cemetery with military honors, in recognition of his faithful service to his country.
