Sylvia “Nana” Cano Martinez was the embodiment of love. Her hugs would make a person feel safe and whole. Her smile would bring peace and warmth. She was the heart and soul of her family, the confidant, the best friend, the person upon whom they relied the most. She was a mother, first and foremost. She dedicated her life to her family and on April 14, 2021 at the age of 63, she became their guardian angel. Sylvia was strong in her faith and her family finds solace in knowing she is in Heaven watching over them. She is survived by her husband and high school sweetheart Hector, her daughters Nikki and Cassandra (fiancé Dakota), her grandchildren Zack and Rory, and her mother Eufracia. She was preceded in death by her father Santos and her brother Jorge.

She leaves behind an abundance of rooster figurines, pans that stick, needlepoint patterns, and books, oh so many books. Indeed, she had more books than she did shirts and they were often in better condition. She preferred mystery and crime novels, she had a knack for solving the crime and figuring out the murderer, which is probably why she always knew when her children were fibbing. She loved movies, but more importantly the popcorn that accompanied the movies. She enjoyed dining out and would insist that she was not a picky eater and her family agreed, as long as it was food that she liked. Onion was her nemesis and was banned from her home. She found joy in a strong margarita, music, friends, and her family. Her loss is immensely felt in those who love her. Her legacy is in her beloved family. Her kindness and strength will live on through them.

So very sorry for your loss! She was so special and caring of others. Always put people before herself! She was an amazing mother and Grandmother. Her smile and laugh was contagious and heart warming. She will forever be missed, but lives on in the hearts of her daughters and grandkids, Zack and Rory. May we all honor her by letting her light shine through all that we set your hands to do in this life! With love, Sky
