Thaddeus "Ted" Victor Nowak

Ted Nowak passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family, on August 10, 2026. Ted was born October 17, 1941, in Chicago, Illinois as the youngest child of Edmund and Genevieve Nowak. As a young man, he joined the United States Air Force and served proudly from 1961 to 1965. While stationed at Biggs Air Force Base, he met the love of his life, Susan, a native El Pasoan. They married in 1965 and would go on to bless each other, and everyone around them, with 61 beautiful years of marriage.

Ted and Susan built their home and raised a family including three children and six grandchildren in El Paso, Texas. Ted worked for Equifax Services for many years and later in life would open his own small business as a private investigator. He loved all things El Paso including the great weather, the food, the Miners, and the unique culture. The warm, friendly, and laid-back feel of his adopted hometown matched his own personality very well. He was an avid golfer most of his life, sinking a hole-in-one three times! He enjoyed movies and television shows, especially good comedies. Ted played and followed many different sports. He would continue to cheer for his Chicago sports teams his whole life and even lived to see his beloved Cubs win it all in 2016!

Ted is preceded in death by his parents, Edmund and Genevieve Nowak. He is survived by his wife Susan Nowak, brother Edward Nowak, sister Carole Lopatka, children David Nowak, Paul Nowak (Karyn), Anne Villegas (Heriberto), and grandchildren Thaddeus Nowak “Tad”, Jayne Nowak, Claire Nowak, Caroline Villegas, Victoria Villegas, and Katherine Villegas.

Visitation will be held at Martin Funeral Home West, 128 N Resler Dr., El Paso, Tx 79912 on August 20th, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with Rosary at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Luke Catholic Church, 930 E Redd Rd, El Paso, TX 79912 on August 21st, at 11:30 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at 1:00 p.m. at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Ave, El Paso, TX 79906.
