Thelma May Addis

Thelma was born in Barking Essex, England to Albert Arthur Horst and Elsie Sewell Horst on February 27, 1927. She married her American sweetheart, Newland Dwaine Addis, and traveled to America on the Queen Mary after WWII ended. They built a life and family in El Paso, where she resided for 66 years.

Thelma is preceded in death by her husband, Newland Dwaine Addis, brothers Norman and Dennis Horst and her sister Peggy Horst Sperinck.

She is survived by her daughter Sandra Kay Addis Poe (Dayton), son David Dwaine Addis (Jean), brother Peter Horst, sisters Ann Horst Venn, Glenda Horst Taylor, granddaughters Tammy Poe Hawkins (Jimmy), Carie Addis. Cindy Poe, Lacey Addis Ford (Mike), and great grandchildren Lindsay Poe and Christian Perez, Emily, Jayce, James, and Jasmine Hawkins, Mason Ford and multiple nieces and nephews.

Committal service will be held Monday, March 16, 2015 at 10:30 am at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to be made to the National Alzheimer’s Association would be greatly appreciated.
