

Tommy J. Faulks Sr. was summoned to heaven peacefully to receive his eternal reward surrounded by his family on March 14, 2021. He was born in Tom, Oklahoma March 15, 1930. He was the youngest of two children. He attended school there and then moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where he attended Booker T. Washington High School. He moved to El Paso, Texas in 1950; met and later married Lonell Odoms in 1952. They became proud parents of five wonderful children. Tommy became a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in 1951 and immediately started serving faithfully in various capacities. He served in the Financial Ministry helping to maintain Shiloh’s financial stability and integrity. He served on the Usher Board; he was a founding member of Shiloh’s Brotherhood Ministry. He also served on the Trustee Ministry and the Benevolence Ministry assisting in making sound decisions regarding benevolence matters. Having demonstrated his love for the Lord and the ongoing of the church, he was ordained a deacon in 1979.
He was a member of Rio Grande Consistory No 24 (Sunset Lodge).
He spent most of his working years at Mountain Bell (AT&T) where he retired in 1985 after 29 years of service with 20 years of perfect attendance. He demonstrated a high degree of initiative, persistence, and motivation as he continuously completed various positions in the AT&T environment. He did not hesitate to fight for fair treatment. His last duties entailed working as a Test Desk Technician, providing testing services to service men in the field. Following retirement, he worked at GECU and InterFirst Bank. Later, he volunteered at Rio Vista Rehabilitation Hospital.
Tommy’s educational pursuits included an Associate Degree in Mid-Management; Certificate from El Paso School of Electronics, FCC third class radio license and Security and Special Officer Training.
Tommy is preceded in passing to the Lord by his parents (Timothy & Allene Faulks), sister (Laverne Duckett) and son, Tommy J. Faulks Jr.
Left to mourn his passing and cherish his memory are his loving wife (Lonell) of 69 years marriage, his four children, Gwendolyn-Faulks Kennedy (Vincent), Joyce Faulks-Jackson (Curt), Tamara Faulks-Agbebaku (Andrew), Lonny J. Faulks (Sugey), ten grandchildren, nine great grandchild and one great-great grandchild, a host of relatives and friends. Tommy was an outstanding patriarch to his children and leaves a memorable legacy for each of them.
His favorite past time activity was playing golf. He enjoyed the game and proudly displayed his trophies.
He touched the lives of many and will be dearly missed by his family and all who knew him.
A funeral will be held on Friday, March 26, 202 at Martin Funeral Home East at 12pm; Viewing at 11am. Chapel seating capacity – 100.
