Yoli was the daughter of Alfredo and Angelina Martinez. She was a devoted mother to her daughter, Cecilia Petra Martinez, and a cherished sister, aunt, and friend. She was preceded in death by her sister, Elaine Martinez Rodriguez (Joe), and is survived by her loving siblings LuAnn Amie (Roshern), Steven Martinez, Norma Martinez-Lopez, and Paul Martinez (Julie). To her 14 nieces and nephews, she was affectionately known as “Titi Yoli,” a special title that reflected the love, warmth, and unique bond she shared with each of them.
Yoli was a proud product of Catholic education, having attended Loretto Academy from first grade through twelfth grade. She graduated from Loretto Academy in 1971, carrying with her the values of faith, community, and service that would continue to guide her throughout her life. She later attended the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), where she proudly was a UTEP Gold Digger. Yoli graduated from UTEP with her master’s in early childhood development.
Yoli dedicated 25 years of her professional life to Thomason Hospital, where she oversaw the Electroencephalography (EEG) Department. Upon retiring in 2005, Yoli embraced a new chapter in her life, returning to the roots that had shaped her—her faith and Catholic education.
Her love for the Lord led her back to the Catholic school community. Yoli worked as a substitute teacher and an instructional aide both at St. Raphael’s & St. Patrick Catholic School. In these roles, she shared her time, talents, and caring spirit with students, families, and colleagues.
“Titi Yoli,” touched lives in ways that will continue to be remembered by those who knew and loved her.
The family of Yolanda Martinez-Dijols would like to thank the Sisters of Loretto, Loretto Academy and Hospice of El Paso Team for their support, care and love of Yolanda Martinez Dijols.
Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace.
