Violet Adele (Fisher) Sanders, a resident of Elgin, Texas, was born on December 1, 1923 to Oscar and Annie Lentz Fisher, and passed away peacefully at the age of 102 in Round Rock, Texas, on April 18, 2026.
She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Dale C. Sanders; her son, Dale Briggs Sanders; her parents, Annie and Oscar Fisher; sisters, Nelda Stephens and husband Red, Mazie Williams and husband Perry; and brother Arthur Fisher and wife Martha.
Adele was raised on a farm in Red Rock, Texas, until high school, when she moved to Lockhart to live with her sister Nelda and her brother-in-law, Red. After graduating, she went to work at a bank. It was at church that she met Dale, and after they married on March 23, 1947, they moved to Elgin, where Dale worked at the Elgin Butler Brickyard and together, they began building a family. In 1956, they built the home where they raised their children.
Eventually, Adele went to work for American Founders Insurance in Austin, Texas, where she remained for twenty-eight years. She retired early to care for Dale when his health declined. A devoted member of the Church of Christ, Adele served in many ways, including faithfully keeping the church’s books.
Adele was deeply appreciated for her kindness, love, and compassion. Even in difficult moments, she carried a quiet calm that brought comfort to others. In her later years, she continued serving as a greeter for Providence-Jones Funeral Home in Elgin, welcoming and consoling families during some of their hardest moments.
Everything Adele did was shaped by her faith, devotion to family, and quiet acts of service. She loved hosting garden parties and gathering around board and card games. And when it came to a game of 42, she showed no mercy.
Her door was always open, whether for coffee or a Thanksgiving feast. For Adele, food was love. When you loved someone, you fed them. We will always remember her giggles from grandbaby kisses and the familiar sound of her saying, “I love you a bushel and a peck, a hug around the neck. I love you.” For Adele, family was everything.
Adele is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Jerry Murphy; grandchildren Jennifer Lee and husband Harold, Jeff Sanders and wife Dena Wallace, Torri Fears and husband Matt, Brettne Cole and husband Malcolm, and Dr. Tanner Jay; great-grandchildren Easton and Colt Lee, Trevor and Haiden Sanders, Taryn Fears, and Jackson Cole; great-great-grandson Treyson Briggs Cox; nieces Darlene Green, Wanda Redmon, and Sharon Hermes; nephew Don Kelly Fisher; their spouses; and numerous other family members and friends.
Her kindness, steadiness, and love will continue to live on in the family she built and the many lives she quietly touched.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Elgin Church of Christ or the Heart Hospital of Austin.
