Barbara Sue Valentour

Barbara was born and raised in Kentucky and moved to Austin at the age of 17. She later raised her children in Georgetown as a single mother. Barbara was warm, kind, quick-witted and delightfully sassy. She lit up every room she entered and cherished the friendships she built through church, her beloved Art Tarts group, the Serenada Racket Club and the many people fortunate enough to know her. She lived life with zest, humor and creativity, bringing joy to family and friends alike.

Barbara had a lifelong love of the arts and found happiness in dancing, painting, drawing, crochet, jewelry-making and countless other creative pursuits. She was blessed to enjoy these passions throughout her life and continued creating until the very end. She also loved thrifting, antiquing and collecting shoes.

She is survived by her parents, Kenneth and Rosella (Dale) Rhodus; her children, Elaine Jensen and husband Chris, and Richie Valentour and wife Lauren; her grandchildren, Valerie, John, Cameron, Megan, and Tanis; her great-grandchildren, Machelle and LJ; brother, Rick Rhodus; niece, Catie and nephew Owen.

Barbara also leaves behind special friends Kathy and Tim Rushing, Elaine Fry, Linda Graves and many extended family members and dear friends who will miss her deeply and remember her with love.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home. Visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
