Cecil Rico III, age 38, passed away on August 24, 2026. He was born on November 24, 1987, in Temple, Texas.
Cecil was raised in Bartlett, Elgin and Austin Texas. He was an easygoing person with a kind heart and a personality that made him easy to love. He will be remembered for his laid-back nature, his love for his family, and the many memories he shared with those around him.
Cecil loved all sports, but especially his beloved Dallas Cowboys. He enjoyed watching ESPN and could tell you everything he had seen, always ready to share the latest NFL and college football news, player statistics, and his thoughts about the games. Sports were a big part of who Cecil was, and he could always find something to talk about when it came to his favorite teams and players.
One of the simple things Cecil especially enjoyed was his dad’s cooking. These everyday moments and memories will be treasured by his family forever.
Cecil leaves behind a daughter, Madilynn, who held a special place in his heart. Cecil is survived by his father Cecil Rico Jr. and stepmom Mary Rico, he is also survived by his siblings, Lacey, Nicholas, Michaela, and Abel; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Cecil was preceded in death by his mother, Lisa Orona, his paternal grandparents, Cecil Rico Sr. and Pauline Rico; uncle Tim Rico, aunt Sally Torres and maternal grandfather, Lee Flores.
Although Cecil’s life was far too short, the memories he created, the laughter he shared, and the love he gave will remain in the hearts of his family, and friends. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
Visitation & Rosary
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with the Rosary at 7:00 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Catholic Church-Elgin on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 at 10:00 am.
Interment: Elgin Latin Cemetery
