

Elwood Billy Urbanovsky, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2026, at the age of 78. He was born in Caldwell, Texas on December 19, 1947, to the late Ludwig and Lydia Urbanovsky. Following his graduation from Caldwell High School, Elwood attended the University of Texas as well as Southwest Texas (Texas State) university where he ultimately got his degree. He married his loving wife Janet on October 26, 1968. He had a long and fulfilling career at the Texas workforce commission from 1972 until his retirement in 2008. He will be fondly remembered as a loving husband, trusted friend, excellent Barbecuer, snake catcher extraordinaire, beloved grandpa, and devoted follower of Christ. He was very talented at anything he put his mind to and pursued, but his greatest achievement was instilling the word and the love of God in his children and his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Urbanovsky, Sons Tim & Chris Urbanovsky, their spouses Ima & Kristen Urbanovsky, and grandchildren Garrett, Gavin, Cooper, and Claire Urbanovsky
A visitation will be held 10:00 AM Friday, July 24, 2029, New Hope Lutheran Church, McDade, with a Celebration of Elwood’s Life beginning at 11:00 AM. A Graveside Service will follow at 2:00 PM at Saint John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery in Deanville.
We were deeply blessed to have had him in our lives, and we look forward to the day we are reunited with him in Heaven.
