Joyce was born on January 20, 1951, in Mountain View, Arkansas to Pershing and Ada (Mitchell) Freeze. She and her husband lived in San Angelo, Texas, for more than 30 years before making Elgin their home in 2024.
Joyce found great joy in caring for her home and yard. She loved gardening, spending time outdoors, watching hummingbirds, and decorating for Christmas each year. She was an avid sports fan who especially enjoyed cheering for the Texas Rangers and the Dallas Stars. Above all, Joyce treasured her family and delighted in spoiling her grandchildren. She attended First Baptist Church of Elgin.
She is survived by her loving husband, Roger Gammons; her children, Kasey Gammons and wife, Janette, Gary Osburn and wife, Lisa, and Karen Wash and husband, Chris; her siblings, J.R. Freeze, Lorene Nix, Irene Wilson, and David Freeze; and her beloved grandchildren, Ethan, Allison, Averi, Asher, Aspen, Elijah, and Sophia.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 17, 2026, at Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home in Elgin.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at First Baptist Church of Elgin. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Bastrop.
