

Dub devoted 46 years of steady, faithful work to the Austin American Statesman newspaper, serving in production with the kind of reliability and quiet pride that mark a life well lived.
On July 9, 1960, Dub married Betty Ruth Owens. Together they shared 54 years of marriage until Betty’s untimely death on June 11, 2014. Dub’s love for his family remained a constant through the years, reflected in the life he built with those closest to him.
Dub was a member of Cedar Valley Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon—an enduring expression of his commitment to faith, service, and community.
Dub was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Ruth Owens; his parents, Loren Dye and Annie Calley; and his granddaughter, Hannah Dye. He is survived by his son, Mark of Katy and his wife Perlie, and his son, David of Cat Spring and his wife LeaAnn. He is also survived by his sister, Ann Scott, his grandchildren, Laney Dye, Michael Dye, Daniel Dye, and Nicholas Dye; and by his great-grandchildren, Kyden Moore and Lia Moore.
Visitation will be held at Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home, 604 Hwy 95 North, Elgin, TX 78621, on June 25, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Funeral services will be held at Cedar Valley Baptist Church, 1905 FM 969, Elgin, TX 78621, on June 26, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
Dub will be laid to rest at Elgin Cemetery, 901 W 2nd St, Elgin TX 78621.
